We love Anglesey! A huge part of the reason we’re so excited to set up our luxury cottage here is because there’s just so much to do in the area around Glanllyn Bach. There’s so many activites that it’s actually quite hard to list them all in one go, but we’ll definitely try to tell you about some of our favourite bits about where we’re situated.
If you fancy a spot of thrill and adventure, the Zip World at Penrhyn Quarry is just a short trip back over the Menai Bridge, and is very well signposted. Take a zip ride in heights over 500 ft tall and experience breathtaking panoramic views suspended from a zip line. Or, if you’d prefer something a little more slow paced, head north on the island and you’ll find Parys Mountain. It’s a must-see for anyone interested in a refreshing stroll across a unique landscape you won’t find anywhere else. Take in the sights of an ancient copper mine and enjoy a broad network of walks that promise something to discover at every turn.
Then again, on Anglesey, there are beautiful walks and paths that run everywhere on the island. Pick a direction and you’re bound to find plenty.
Being on the coast only a minute’s walk from the sea, it should go without saying that our luxury cottage is right in the heart of a huge variety of watersports. Surfing, jet skiing, diving, kayaking and much more await anyone looking to get out onto the sea, unless you fancy just grabbing your bodyboard and riding the waves of one of the island’s many beautiful beaches. There’s a lot of opportunities for the keen anglers among us, too, as there are plenty of places to go fishing all around Anglesey. Activities on the water are definitely not few and far between!
And of course, it would be hard to talk about the location without mentioning the excitement of the nearby airbase, RAF Valley. Our little retreat is in the perfect place to witness jets taking off overhead and landing, and the runway is only a stone’s throw down the road if you want to get an even closer look at the action. It’s seriously impressive seeing and hearing the planes in motion from such a close viewing point, especially if you’re an avid fan of aviation.
There’s Anglesey Circuit, which plays home to a packed schedule of motorsports, including racing, track days and other events to delight your inner petrolhead.
