February ends, and March is soon upon us. Straight away, we have a very special day to start the week off!

If you didn’t know already, St David is the patron saint of Wales. The first day of March is dedicated to remembering him in a variety of ways, including special concerts and parades. Welsh people around the world take to wearing something adorned with one of Wales’ national emblems, those being either a leek or a daffodil. Sometimes, they might even wear the actual objects themselves!

The daffodil in particular has a lot of meaning other than its status as a symbol of Wales. Over the years it’s been taken to mean everything from hope and folly all the way to unrequited love. Our favourite interpretation of what the daffodil represents is more rooted in nature. The flower can be a symbol of a new beginning, blooming brightly and opening up after the winter to begin again.

A new week begins alongside a new month today, and so too begins our new venture on the beautiful shores of Anglesey. We’re risking it all to live somewhere we’ve always dreamed of living, so naturally we felt a special connection with the idea of rebirth. Our luxury bed & breakfast is set to open soon, and hopefully it’ll be a strong bloom just like a daffodil!

Lisa created fused glass art for a big project in Swansea, some years ago. This stunning daffodil panel was one of them, and the one that we remember best on this particular day!

Sadly St David’s day isn’t a national holiday just yet, but we hope you’ll be joining us in celebrating it. We could all use a little celebration of the good things in life wherever we can find them these days, and coming together around the love of all things Welsh sits just right with us. But first, we’ve got just a little more work to get out of the way before we can put our feet up on this fairly glorious day.

And of course, Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus!

Our luxury bed and breakfast is soon to open just outside of Rhosneigr, aiming for a full open in early Summer providing that it’s safe to do so. We’re renovating the entire property from top to bottom in order to make Glanllyn Bach a local legend when it comes to comfort, and we’ll also be offering the option to rent the entire house out as your own personal luxury cottage. We look forward to hearing from you!
